Brooks & Brooks: Make Living Coral Work For You
The warm colour – following the cooler tones of Greenery in 2017 and Ultra Violet in 2018 – has a golden undertone that energises and enlivens with a softer edge. The engaging nature of Living Coral symbolises the need for optimism and joyful pursuits, and the desire for playful expression, making it the perfect shade for hairdressers.
Grace Dalgleish from Brooks & Brooks, London, says Living Coral gives colourists an endless palette to play with. “When Pantone release the Colour of the Year it is our job to make it look expensive – the colour must never overpower the client. By diluting or intensifying the tone we can create a range of playful brights to soft shimmers, making bespoke colour that is wearable and suitable for all ages.”
While Greenery and Ultra Violet wasn’t for the faint hearted, Living Coral can be worn by anyone, regardless of hair texture or age. “For your blonde clients that want a change without the commitment, we can tailor gloss varnishes for the hair to add a touch of coral which will fade into a beautiful champagne hue and last for about two weeks. If you’re working on yellow undertones, the result will be more orange based, so experiment by adding touches of pink to soften the result. The lighter the canvas the truer the coral result. Play around with adding yellow for a vivid statement and a true Living Coral.”
