BLUE TIT REVEALS NEW COLOURING TECHNIQUE

BLUE TIT REVEALS NEW COLOURING TECHNIQUE
Fiona Ward

Blue Tit, the award-winning six-strong salon group in London, has revealed its latest colouring technique for Spring/Summer 2016: SunBun.

Created by Harriet Muldoon, Head Colourist and Technical Educator at Blue Tit Salons and Academy, the technique, inspired by the 90s, was developed in response to the growing trend for multiple colours and allows a variety of spontaneous hues to be created with a stunning marbled, tie-dye effect.

Perfect on locks that have been pre-lightened, bleached or have a high-lift tint, hair is sectioned into segments, then small top-knots are created across the head, before being gently backcombed. The more top knots, the more colour. Perfect for more extreme colour aficionados, the SunBun technique truly comes to life with contrasting tones placed next to one another, resulting in a bold, 3D effect of show-stopping colour.

Hair can be pre-lightened using the Davines Flamboyage colour service – an unprecedented tool for a new and revolutionary approach to colour, performed using special see-through meche strips, before the SunBun top-knots are created. Colours are then added and gently massaged through, before unwrapping the hair for a marvellous marble effect.

“While it’s much more effective to see the variation in tones and different shades next to one other, so they can really pop, a softer look can also be created for a more natural effect,” says Harriet. “At Blue Tit we look outside of the salon for inspiration and are continually looking at ways in which we can offer unique services to clients across our six salons. The SunBun technique is perfect for the new season.”
