Chris Williams from Rush Hair on training

Chris Williams from Rush Hair on training
Joanne Charlton

As one of the leading colourists in the UK today, Rush Hair’s Chris Williams is passionate about training. In his role as International Colour Director for the company, it is part of Chris’ responsibility to ensure each member of the Rush team is continually trained to the highest standards. Here, Chris explains the importance of ongoing training in today’s fast moving industry.

“Providing exceptional training is at the very heart of Rush. We know that without a team that is trained to the highest standards – there would be no growth. And it’s not just salon growth, it’s personal growth and development for the Rush employee; professional growth, and of course for Rush, the level and standards of training we provide allows the company to grow at a phenomenal rate.

“Colour is my passion and I love the way the industry has embraced colour. Clients are becoming so much more adventurous with their colour and as professionals it’s our job to ensure we are on top of the technical aspect of hair colour as well as the creative. We need to show our clients we’re experts in our field. We have the ability to correct colour, create the most natural looking highlights or colour for fashionistas, embracing and setting tomorrow’s trends, today.

“How do we do that? Quite simply – we train to be the best, and it doesn’t just stop with initial training, we train and then we train some more. At Rush we provide initial training and then our hairdressers move on through a variety of different colour courses from colour correct to creative colour. We have our own in house Colour Degree, which we work with L’Oréal on. We believe this shows how committed the hairdresser is to their craft and to Rush and after completing it there really isn’t anything the attendee doesn’t know about hair colour.

“Being trained to this level allows our hairdressers and colourists to exude confidence and clients like this. Colour is such an important part of our business that you have to continually keep working at it. Clients are more informed now on hair colour and hair colouring products that if you aren’t up to date you could lose clients. At Rush we believe in Rush for Life and that’s why on going training and development underpins everything we do. “
