gfc Hairdressing Wins At The Essex Salon Awards 2018
Hornchurch and Rayleigh based salon group gfc hairdressing are celebrating after winning the Creative Image Award for the second consecutive year and the Most Sustainable Salon accolade at the Essex Salon Awards 2018.
About The Event
The ceremony, which took place on Sunday 11th November at the Orsett Hall Hotel, celebrates the success of the most creative, dynamic and innovative salons and hairdressers within Essex. The team worked hard to implement a sustainability programme at their Emerson Park salon, which resulted in them securing the coveted Most Sustainable Salon accolade.
Eco Initiatives Include
• Recycling: adding recycling bins for plastics, foils, cardboard, magazines and paper.
• Biodegradable towels: the towels used at the salon take just 12 weeks turn to water. After drying clients’ hair, the team use them for cleaning, lining hanging baskets or in the compost.
• Charitable Hair Donations: If the team performs any restyles which results in healthy hair longer than seven inches being cut off, they send it off to the Little Princess Trust where it can be used to make wigs for children who have lost their hair through an illness.
• Green Hair Products: Matrix Raw shampoo is used at the backwash, which is made with natural ingredients and is free from silicone, parabens and sulfates.
More Green Plans
The company is also planning a refilling bar where bottles of shampoo originally purchased at the salon can be refilled, introducing biodegradable capes and installing eco shower heads to save water. Their green practices have been so successful that they will be extended to their Rayleigh branch in the New Year.
In addition to winning the Creative Image of the Year award, the talented team were also shortlisted for Best Salon Team, Marketing Trailblazer and Best Salon For Bridal Hair.
An Important Message
“We’re thrilled to have won two accolades at the Essex Hair Awards. Scooping the Creative Image award for the second year in a row feels fantastic and we’re incredibly proud to have been recognised for our sustainability. Our company founder, Gisele Falltrick and I have become increasingly concerned about the planet, with the plastic floating islands in the sea and how wildlife is being affected by what everyone uses on a daily basis. We hope that winning this award will enable us to spread the message about the importance of sustainability, so that we can help to make a difference, ” said Paul Falltrick, Director at gfc hairdressing and Global Design Team Member for Matrix.
