Charlie Taylor is one of the UK’s foremost hairdressers and a lifetime member of the British Hairdressing Hall of Fame. Scottish Hairdresser of the Year three times, Charlie trained as a stylist in Scotland before moving to London in 1984, where she joined fellow top British Hairdresser, Trevor Sorbie. She has undergone Wella Education. Below she talks about how the partnership has benefited her and her salon.

How long has Wella been your brand partner?

Six months, but I opened my salon with Wella 30 years ago and stayed with them for 20 years. I feel like I have come home, though, I never stopped stocking SP so I’ve been an SP client for 30 years.

Tell us about the education you have participated in over the last couple of years including in-salon and external.

My team are still learning about Wella; its products listing has grown so much since I left there is a lot to learn. We are working with the Wella trainers in-salon to extend everyone’s knowledge. I do have two of the team starting the new Master’s programme after the summer and another two have started the Careology programme. One of my team entered TrendVision and I’ve another going for Gen Now.

What do you think is so good about Wella education?

It is thorough and well targeted, and those delivering it really understand what and who they are teaching. It’s a breath of fresh air being able to work with such talented people who come armed with such rich education materials.

What is the best Wella course youve been on? Tell us about it?
It has all been excellent.
Have you tried out Wellas online education? How did you find it to use?
Not personally , but my youngsters are very much engaged with it, monitored closely by the
management team. I’ve incentivised engagement, with lots of fun rewards for achieving set
gals and passing milestones.
Why do you think education is important?
It’s absolutely crucial. It’s what sets my team and salon apart from the competition. It is worth
every single penny knowing I have the best educated team possible to look aft
er our clients.
